It took Governor Aregbesola and some members of his administration a while of trekking through various farms before finally settling down with a gathering of the okomeje farmers on a designated farm for the meeting.
The Governor devied the heavy downpour by addressing the farmers in the rain. He also commended the farmers, describing them as "live-savers".
Aregbesola noted that despite favourable climatic condition and good arable land that Nigeria is blessed with, food items worth of 20 billion Naira are still imported into the country annually. He held that no other experience should prod the country to declaring an emergency on farming and food production than current reality regarding dwindled oil revenue that has been the country's major income mean for far too long.
In attendance too were the SSG Alh Moshood Adeoti, COS Alh Gboyega Oyetola, Owa of Otan Aiyegbaju, Oluresi of Iresi among others.
